Ấn phẩmAdvice strategies made by native Speakers of English and native Vietnamese Learners of English(Viện Ngôn ngữ học - Viện Hàn lâm Khoa học xã hội Việt Nam, 2020) Nguyễn, Thị Quỳnh HoaThe article focuses on the Advice strategies made by Native Speakers of English and Native Vietnamese learners of English. The aim of the study is to discuss the similarities and differences between advice strategies chosen by the native speakers of English and the native Vietnamese learners of English. The article also aims to find out how the social factors affect the selection of advice strategies in both languages. The data collected from the given situations in the questionnaire delivered to the sixty five English subjects and the same number of Vietnamese subjects will be analyzed in terms of the selection of advice strategies in connection with social factors, and the levels of directness - direct advice, conventionally indirect advice and non-conventionally indirect advice. The results have revealed that the Vietnamese respondents appear to be more direct in giving advice than the native English subjects especially in higher power situations. However, how to listen English well is a problem for lots of learners, especially for English non- major students. In reality, most of students get bored and become demotivated when listening classes start. In this essay, factors affecting English non-major students' motivation are presented and possible suggestions are also given in order to arouse motivation for students in listening skill, helping them to get involved in different listening activities and then achieve success.

The aim of the study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of using the video resources on listening improvement, in addition to proposing some criteria for selecting the kind of materials which is of great help in teaching listening comprehension.

Hence, the paper aims at proposing peer assessment as the way of involving students in process of sharing ideas, providing and receiving constructive feedback to improve their writing skills. Peer assessment has been pedagogically determined as an effective method to develop students' writing performance. In this paper, benefits of peer assessment, strategies for using this type of assessment in writing are mentioned. The study also suggests several implications for the implementation of peer assessment in EFL writing classes.
